SEA-SIGHT

a forthcoming collection of poetry and photography written across a journey of the two mirroring pacific coastlines: honshu, japan and vancouver island, canada. SEA-SIGHT is a study of poetry as it meets with the landscape, a psychogeographic practice of how attention originates acts of preservation, memory-formation, and dialogues with history and its consciousness.

days one to ten took place in january 2021 from choshi, chiba to higashidori, aomori.

days eleven to twenty took place in june 2021 from port renfrew to cape scott.

the journals, which chronicle each of these days, can be read here.

in travelling and writing the two coasts of the pacific ring of fire, SEA-SIGHT calls back to the first practice of cartography—to ascribe these landscapes as they are seen and as they are disappearing, to write the eye into the poem, to write the poem into the land, to write the land onto itself, to write onwards.
